Rounding up what’s new and valuable. May 7, 2020
There are so many things that we’re missing while everyone stays at home. Movies, dinners out or just conversation and visits with friends. At this point, I’m even happy to talk through the plexiglass barrier at Publix. However, as an ostomate, you don’t have to miss your support meetings. UOAA has written about many peer supporters taking it to Zoom so that no one misses out:

If I’m ever needing information, I find myself clicking through their website.
It’s important during this stressful time to find rest from anxiety and worry and the best way to accomplish that is exercise. I love yoga and I absolutely believe it will allow me to have a good range of motion and remain strong as I age. For ostomy-specific yoga, see this post with practitioner Elaine O’Rourke, who has an ostomy from Crohn’s disease. She has a free guide that she’s written about eliminating fear of an ostomy.
She also has a wonderful beach flow yoga on youtube.
Speaking of exercise, Convatec has a series for recovery after ostomy surgery. It starts in the hospital and continues the program while you are healing.

Also, looking for a water resistant barrier now that summer is here? We’ve had great luck with the Half Arc Skin Barrier Strip by Safe N Simple. Our customers are raving:

Call if you want to add this. It’s an alternative to tape and super skin-friendly!

Another great information source is Friends of Ostomy Worldwide. Here’s some information about nutrition, so important:
We’ve been having lots of fun in the office with our Zoom meetings. We’ve had contests each week – Best T-Shirt, Best Hat (Tom won with his Captain Awesome hat) and Best Quote. Today is ‘Best Throw Back Thursday’ picture. I though I’d share mine with you – starring Paul of course.

A little fuzzy, but glossy shots from 1997 don’t make the best iPhone pictures!
Have a great week and don’t hesitate to call us – 1-833-667-8669. We’re ready to talk ostomy products!
